"M03:Spectroscopy in Mineralogy: Theory and Experiment"

2006 Joint Assembly Meeting, Baltimore MD, 23-26 May 2006

Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to announce the special issue "M03:Spectroscopy in

Mineralogy: Theory and Experiment" that we are holding at the 2006 Joint

Assembly Meeting, Baltimore MD, 23-26 May 2006. The deadline for abstract submission is March 1st. A short description of the session follows:

"Recent theoretical and technological advances allow the determination of more and more properties of minerals with increasing accuracy. This session covers a wide range of spectroscopic methods, which are related to electronic or/and lattice dynamical properties of minerals. Authors are encouraged to submit papers from any area of, but not only limited to:

Raman and infrared spectroscopy, UV/VIS and X-ray absorption and emission spectroscopy, Mössbauer spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, etc.

Both contributions concerning crystalline and non-crystalline solids are welcome.

This session will bring together theoretical and experimental studies in an effort to enhance interdisciplinarity in mineral physics."

 Sincerely yours,

 Razvan Caracas and Bjorn Mysen
